Excellence in Adult & Community Education

WELCOME BACK – WE ARE RE-OPENING FROM JUNE

Dear Student,

Welcome back to attending classes at Murwillumbah Community College.

We have been closed in response to COVID -19 restrictions since March 30. If you are an existing student, we have appreciated your patience and understanding in going with us online during this difficult time. We hope that this has been workable for you and that you have continued to receive the support you have needed during this time. A warm welcome back to you.

If you are a new student just about to commence with us. A warm welcome.

We are, of course, opening up to face to face classes within the current guidelines for easing restrictions over time. This means that we will be operating a little differently from now on to protect everyone’s health and safety. This will include:

Smaller class sizes   – each training room will hold a certain number of students depending on the size and seating arrangements. This has been established with your trainer so please discuss this with them if you have any questions.

Social distancing – both within the classroom and in communal areas like the reception area, student lounge area, walkways and stairwell.

Seating arrangements with social distancing will be organized in the training room by the College; however, you will be mainly responsible for observing social distancing in communal areas. Two people are allowed in reception at any one time. Students will be responsible for self-managing the numbers in the student lounge area at any one time although trainers will stagger morning and afternoon tea breaks to minimize the number of students present. A two-way mirror is being installed on the stairs and is visible from both the bottom and top of the stairwell. This is to encourage one way traffic up and down the stairs by allowing people to give way to each other.

Hygiene and Infection Control Measures

Hand santizer and paper towels are available in every training room and in all communal areas.  Please use on entry and exit to each room and/or communal area.

The College will be cleaned daily including all surface areas which are frequently touched such as door handles, light switches, kettle handles etc.

Cups, stirrers, tea and coffee satchels are all disposable.

Trainers will clean work areas and equipment in each room before and after training sessions.

Monitoring your own health and attendance

It is crucially important that you do not attend College if you are unwell in any way or have come into contact with someone with COVID – 19.

Please notify the College on 02 66726005 or your trainer if this is ever the case.

We want your learning experience at the College to be a positive one and at the same time to protect everyone’s health and safety. Your co-operation in keeping to the above measures will contribute to this and is greatly appreciated.

If you wish to discuss anything in relation to these measures or your needs as a student do not hesitate to contact your trainer or staff in the Office.

Warmest regards
